Adopt

We have many animals looking for their forever homes! To learn more about our adoption process go to our Adoptions page.

Foster

Do you have room in your heart and home to help a dog or cat in need?

Thank you for considering becoming a foster with Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue (HDDCR)! Fosters literally are saving animal's lives, especially with us, as we are a foster-based rescue. This means, we can only save as many animals as we have available foster homes.

We are always seeking foster homes for all breeds, sizes, and ages of dogs and cats. We also need those special homes available for pregnant mothers and whelping mothers and their babies. Having a safe, clean, stable place for these special cases are extremely important for the health of the babies.

Foster homes are a very important part of our rescue and it is a big commitment for everyone in your household. We require of our foster homes the following:

To Provide: shelter, daily care and love, as well as updated information for us to promote them on their web page, and to take them to the vet when needed. We also ask for you and your foster to attend at least one adoption event per month and for you to respond timely to any inquiries about your foster, within four days.

To Protect your foster and those interacting with them. Never leave an animal outside unattended. To protect them inside and outside your home. We request a 10-day separation period between your own animals and the fosters; dogs, cats and children can be unpredictable and all interactions will need to be monitored. This will help lower any stress related decompression issues the foster may experience, and prohibit any diseases from being spread.

HDDCR will provide: medical care, flea and tick preventative, medication (as needed), supplies, food, toys, treats and other accessories as we have them available. We solely run on donations and ensure our animals have everything they need.

HDDCR will provide: a mentor for new foster families to help them along the way, review applications together, and be available for any questions you may have as the animals decompress and make their way into your routine.

Volunteer

We are always needing volunteers to take on many tasks within the rescue.

  • Transport - we often need assistance transporting animals to/from vet appointments or adoption events as well as pulling animals to be saved from areas within Michigan or possibly out-of-state.
  • Home Visits- We require in-person home visits for adoptions as well as new foster homes. Training will be provided and you can sign up for those within your geographic area.
  • Adoption Events - The more people able to host and help out at adoption events the more opportunities our animals have face time with the public and can increase odds of adoption. Training is provided and able bodies willing to help are needed!
  • Fundraising - The more funds we can gather the more animals we can help. Fundraisers are a huge part of HDDCR's success in finding animals homes! Consider helping host, assist the day of, or even do online fundraisers. The possibilities are endless and you are needed!
  • Administrative - Record keeping and administrative tasks go on behind the scenes and are an integral part of the rescue. We need help calling vets and completing vet checks for potential adopters, updating the website, scanning in vet records and following up with adopters.
  • Photography - Have a good eye? Updated professional photos of the animals has been proven to help with quicker adoptions. If you have this talent consider donating some of your time!
