Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our dogs or cats. If you have any questions about any of our dogs or cats, please contact us here! Animals are not a commodity. We ask that you and all family members fully consider the responsibility of adoption, as well as the effort and changes that you may need to make on behalf of your new pet's behaviors and needs. Please take this decision seriously and ensure it is well thought out. You should plan to have your new pet for their lifespan including their senior days, which could be up to 17 years. Please keep in mind that the average cost of owning a healthy dog or cat can be between $400 and $500 a year. This includes annual exams and shots, Heart-worm testing, Heartworm preventative, and flea medication. If health issues or accidents come up later in life, it can be even more. There is also the cost of food, toys, training, licenses, leashes, collars, and so on. As a dog or cat owner, it will be your responsibility to protect the animal and protect others. We ask that you do not leave your pet outside unattended. How to AdoptOur adoption process requires a completed adoption application, vet check, and home visit prior to adoption. If you do adopt from Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue you will also need to sign an Adoption Contract. All our animals receive age appropriate vaccines and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Animals not spayed or neutered prior to adoption; e.g., puppies, have a Spay/Neuter Agreement attachment to the Adoption Contract. There is a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit for dogs [$25 refundable spay/neuter deposit for cats] with proof of spay/neuter. All of our animals come already Microchipped to ensure their safety. We are all volunteers at HDDCR with our own families and responsibilities. We try very hard to process all applications timely, but ask that you give us at least 3 days to review your application and assign it to one of our volunteers. |
