Other Pictures of Jack (click to see larger version):Meet Jack! ***Please read the entire bio before applying*** Jack is a 65 pound Male Golden Retriever Mix. He was part of an “Ooops!” litter, and the owners decided to keep all of the puppies. That is, until they could not afford to feed all seven large dogs. All of the litter were mainly kept outdoors, and were not exposed to a great many things as puppies or young adults. So, Jack is looking for a patient and understanding family that can build his confidence using positive motivational training. And lots of love. It seems like Jack was not kept inside a home, but he is now used to being indoors (dishwashers, vacuum, movies playing on the TV were all new to him) and does not have accidents in the home. He is submissive, and seems to be good with other dogs. In Jack’s case it might help to have an older dog that is laid back to help him learn new things. Slow and proper introductions would be recommended. Jack has learned to wear a car harness and he has learned to load in and out of the car. Jack has gone to the vet, and was a perfect gentlemen. Although he starts out shy, he has a very good temperament and is curious to learn new things. Patience, patience and more patience coupled with a calm demeanor are the best ways to handle his initial reluctance to try new things. Jack is a sensitive soul, and needs guidance to become the best dog he can be. Absolutely no e-fencing or collars, no prong or choke chain training please! Although he is super sweet and kind pup who has only given us gentle kisses, we don’t know his history and are looking for a home with gentle dog-savvy children tweens and up. Jack needs a physically fenced in yard of at least four feet in height. He feels comfortable in an ex-pen or crate. He takes treats gently and is food motivated. If there are active individuals in an apartment or condo setting who can demonstrate a plan to keep Jack exercised and trained (doggy daycare, board and train) this also could work. Jack is not an off leash dog, and dog parks would not be recommended as we do not know how much doggy socialization he has had in the past. We are looking for an amazing home for this pup, and if you think your home is a match for Jack’s needs, send in your application today! Jack can’t wait to meet you! Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
