Description:

My name is Otis and I came from Owensboro, Ky where they said my time was about up due to overcrowding, and the fact that I was heart worm positive. I was about to die!  Then to my amazement, a woman came to get me out of the shelter, they must have known she was coming because they gave me my heart worm treatment so I was already to go with her. The shelter had me listed as a 9 yo pit bull, but I fooled them, I am only 6 years old. Maybe they thought I was older because I have so many good manners!

My foster mom is the same person who came to get me and she says I am the nicest dog she has ever fostered. I get along well with other dogs.  My foster mom thinks I would do better with dogs 40 pounds or larger as I might mistake little dogs as toys. I  have even learned what horses are now. I admit it. They scare me a little. I know how to go to my room (crate), sit, wait at the door or a gate until someone tells me ok and then I go through with them. I have only been here since the first of January, so you can see I learn things very quickly! I also know how to shake, and love really tough squeaky toys!! Oh, did I mention, I love a bed to sleep in!! It's the only other thing I like as much is being with people. I haven't met anyone I didn't like and only want to please the person I am with.

I wasn't real good at walking on a leash when I got here, but now I do quite well, only needing a little reminder once in a while so I don't pull. I am a short guy and weigh 43 pounds, so if you let me I would love to lay beside you or on your lap!! You can never be too close to the one you love. I have a lot of good years ahead of me and would really like a family of my own. I am almost done with my heart worm protocol which means I have to be walked on a leash for another 3 weeks to go out to potty. After that time my foster mom says I should be able to start playing a little more and go for longer walks.  By summer I will be my old self again and be able to play like the pup I still am!!

Won't you come and meet me and let me show you all my good qualities?

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for $19.99 fee to change information.  Dogs and Cat still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
