Description:
Other Pictures of Pixie (click to see larger version):Pixie is a 8 year old tan and white female Beagle. At 15 lbs she is on the petite side but she is active for her age. Pixie likes to stroll in the yard and she will be a great companion just hanging out for an hour or two but she will be happy to spend an afternoon on yard work too. Did I mention walks ? This Beagle is up for long and short walks whenever opportunity knox, she is fit and energetic for her age but obviously not a hyperactive youngster. After a day of activity she enjoys a quiet evening snoring in her soft and cozy dog bed. Pixie sleeps through the night on her bed and free roam is perfectly fine. We believe Pixie has been an indoor dog and she has pretty good house manners. Keep in mind that all dogs need to be given time to get used to a new home before they learn the new house rules. When she is alone at home she needs to be confined to a place where she can not hurt herself or cause any damage. In her foster home she has been alone with free roam for short periods of time without incidents, but she is crated if it's going to be more than 1 hr. Pixie shares a home with other male and female dogs of all sizes from a temperamental small Shih Tzu to a laid back 45 lbs Pitmix. She gets along very well with all of them. Due to resource guarding with some of the other dogs we feed all dogs separately and we can not tell if Pixie guards her food. Beagles like Pixie are typically food motivated dogs which makes training easier but also means that a feeding schedule will be required. The current schedule consists of breakfast and dinner and it is a measure to control tendencies of overeating and hence weight gain. Pixie is mild mannered and does not seem to be bothered by any mobility problems but as many older dogs she may slow down or develop joint pain in the coming years. Pixie is spayed and vaccinated so she is looking for her forever home. An all adult home or a home with older respectful children would be the best fit for Pixie. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
