Description:

Charlie is a Miniature Australian Shepherd about 6-7 months old. He loves to take hikes and spend time outdoors. Charlie had a rough start and has not been exposed to many things in life. He is learning to be braver every day by experiencing new things. Charlie is rapidly gaining confidence in his new home, but it was clear that being inside a home is not something he had experienced.

Charlie is now crate trained, has excellent potty skills, working well on a leash, and is starting to be comfortably handled by humans. Charlie now knows about television, dishwashers, brooms and vacuum cleaners.  Charlie is great with other dogs and would do best in a home that has another dog that can help him learn new things.  He has made a good amount of progress in many areas since we got him, and has never shown any aggression, despite being very fearful at first.

We are looking for an outstanding home for this special pup to help him become the best dog he can be. We are looking for a physically fenced yard, and, if children are part of the household, gentle respectful dog savvy children aged tweens and up. He has not reacted to our cats, shows no interest in chickens, and thinks goats are scary.  He has another large breed dog here that he loves to interact with, and it seems to help him feel surer of his environment.

Charlie will need a good amount of exercise, so an active forever family would be best.  Charlie is quiet, for the most part, so a detached condo or pet friendly apartment is also an option.  The most important thing a prospective adopter should have is lots of love to give. Charlie needs kind but firm leadership, and should not be pushed, but rather encouraged to explore new things.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
