Description:

Lil Man is a delightfully sassy senior Shih Tzu. He weighs in at 11 pounds, is neutered, house trained and microchipped.  He was groomed just before he came into care because his coat was matted and dirty.  If you view the videos included here you will notice Lil Man often drags one back leg.  To find out why his gait is off, Lil Man had X-rays at his intake vet appointment.  Sadly, X-rays revealed Lil Man suffered a broken Right hip at some point, which apparently was never attended to, so the hip healed in its own time and in its own way. In doing so, it made his Left leg about 1” shorter than his Right leg.  Therefore, when he walks, the shorter leg ends up being dragged along.  To compensate, he walks by bending his Left foot over, in essence walking on his knuckles.  X-rays also show he has some arthritis in both front wrists and a little in his spine.  He also has luxating patellas in both knees. Despite the health issues this little guy has been dealt, his spirit is happy-go-lucky.  He loves toys, especially squeaky ones, and will grab one and run back to his bed to play with it.  He loves car rides and good grub!  He seems unphased by other dogs and will stand side-by-side with them waiting for a treat.  He loves to explore new surroundings but is equally happy to snooze.  He can go downstairs licky-split, but because of his legs, can’t climb most steps.  He can manage small step-ups, about 3 inches or less, but not standard spaced house steps.  He would need to be carried upstairs.  He has a low, almost raspy bark, but isn't very vocal.  He received all needed vaccines and is currently being treated for whipworm.  If you are looking for a happy pup, Lil Man may just be the perfect fit.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
