Description:
Other Pictures of D88 litter Pirate (click to see larger version):Pirate is a sweet male 3-4 month old Australian Cattle Dog / Heeler that loves to play with others. He loves to be around his people. His current favorite thing is to cuddle up with his foster and rest his head on their shoulder. He would do best with a fenced in yard and a playmate. Based on his breed we are guessing his adult weight will be between 35-50 pounds. He is good with other active dogs though he is wanting to chase (or I am sure from his point of view herd) the cats in his foster home. He came from a hoarding case so is still working on potty training but is picking up on his leash manners quite well and walks well on a loose leash. He had his first outing to the pet store and enjoyed meeting new people there. The Australian Cattle Dog is a herding dog originally bred for herding cattle over large areas by nipping at them. They are highly energetic and have an independent streak but bond closely to their family. Please be aware that this breed then transfers that energy for herding to anyone in the household; other dogs, cats, and even their human housemates if not fully trained and even then, will sometimes herd them. For more info on the breed https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/australian-cattle-dog/ HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.
