Meet Marcus, our very handsome 4-5 month old Lab/Shar Pei (?) mix being fostered at the Mikey & Me kennels for Happy Days Rescue. 

Marcus weighs about 30 pounds, he has a soft, beautiful coat with a golden/cream hue. He is an extremely friendly little fellow and he gets very excited when it’s his turn to see you and to go outside. He doesn’t seem to bark much but will make noises to get your attention until he’s heard.

Marcus is scheduled for his first puppy shots on Wednesday of next week; he will be given a physical exam at that time. Unfortunately, there are no previous records for Marcus as he was found as a stray with no identifiable collar, microchip, or tags.

Marcus has become a wonderful playmate for Cody, our one year old mixed breed pup that I’ve posted in the recent past. Cody and Marcus play very well together, they’ve become quite bonded and dependent on one another, and Cody is happily showing Marcus the ropes at Mikey & Me. In turn, Marcus is helping Cody overcome some of his fears by showing him how to be brave. (I’ve always said that dogs communicate with each other in more ways than we will ever understand). 

For now, I would like to give first dibs to anyone out there that would consider adopting both Cody and Marcus. Having them adopted into a home together would really help Cody make the transition to his new home with Marcus giving him the additional confidence he may need. Knowing how much they would benefit by staying together, Mikey & Me will pay the second adoption fee if anyone is interested and ends up getting approved to adopt them. 

HDDCR requires a spay/neuter contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. We will hold a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog was spayed/neutered. The $50 deposit will then be returned to the adopter.​
