Description:

This is Merlin, one of our newest residents at the Mikey & Me kennels. Merlin is a two year old Shepherd Mix and he weighs about 55 pounds.

We pulled Merlin from the Detroit Shelter where he was very scared. He was cowering in the corner of his kennel and he was afraid of being in such a noisy and overcrowded environment.

Merlin was afraid when he arrived here on Wednesday afternoon but after just 48 hours, he is a completely different dog. When I first walked him, I sat down on a bench outside and he stood up and hugged me.   Merlin loves interacting with people and he’s really good with kids too. He is calm when meeting other dogs and he walks well on a leash.

Merlin is up to date on his shots but he is not yet neutered. I will be taking him in for a checkup, Microchip placement, and neuter surgery sometime in the next two weeks.

Merlin would make a wonderful family dog. When he meets anyone new he wants to give hugs and get close to them very quickly. When I approach his kennel he jumps off his bed, then back on, then off, then back on, repeatedly due to his excitement at being given attention.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.  Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
