Description:
Shelby is a heeler/hound mix. Shelby has a feral background, being picked up by animal control in Clare County back in November 2018. Shelter staff saw how sweet and loving Shelby is and a shelter volunteer took her home a couple days later to help her adjust to a home environment and learn valuable social skills. Since being in her foster home, Shelby has progressed well. Initially, she was very timid, but has gained confidence and trust. She is inquisitive, playful and dog friendly, but her doggie playmates must be very tolerant because if she gets overstimulated she plays rough. She is smart and knows ‘sit’ and ‘down’ and is working on the command ‘come.’ Shelby is crated trained and would do best with an open door crate. She is also potty trained and goes to the door when she needs to go out. No children under 12 due to her background, timid nature and rough play. No cats! A physical fence is required for Shelby due to her feral history. She will need supervision when outdoors as she has been observed digging.
Shelby is UTD on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Transitioning to a new home will likely be a challenge for Shelby and she will need a patient and understanding family who will continue to work with her on socialization and training. In return, Shelby will fill your home and heart with love.
NOTE: Shelby is in a foster home in Harrison, MI.
Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. |
