This is Oscar, a 2 year old Jack Russel Terrier Mix and he weighs about 12 pounds.

Oscar has been at the Mikey & Me kennels undergoing a focused training regimen after he was returned for biting his new owner several weeks post-adoption. But please keep reading because Oscar is not an aggressive dog in any sense of the word. (We don’t know what triggered that event but I have been evaluating and working with him for weeks now and Oscar can be very easily managed without giving him the opportunity to lash out or bite again).

I am looking for an experienced Jack Russell Terrier owner to adopt Oscar. He is a very sweet little boy but he has struggled being contained in a kennel without the level of attention he craves and needs, as is notorious for the breed.

Jack Russell Terriers like being the center of attention and I believe he would only bite as a way of communicating after his other attempted body language failed. This is the way we have decided to approach his training and it has been very successful. In just three weeks Oscar has gone from reacting very loudly to being put back in his kennel (and climbing the gate in a crazed manner) to now going into the kennel on his own and sitting quietly as I exit the kennel area. We will be moving to phase 2 of his training on Thursday. I’m hoping to find a person who would be willing to work with me and to continue Oscar’s training at his new home. (Mikey & Me is paying for Oscar’s training using some of the donations we have received in recent weeks).

Oscar loves taking long walks, he is absolutely crazy about his toys, and he likes having treats in puzzle toys that keep him busy. He is confident and walks outside like he’s the head of the pack.

Oscar has been neutered and he is up to date on his shots and heart worm test. Please help me find the right home for Oscar where he will have the opportunity for success. I would adopt him myself if I didn’t already have a Blue Tick Coon Hound that would eat him for lunch. ‍♂️ I will appreciate it very much if you can share Oscar’s story with your friends and family.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.  Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
