Video of Guinness - ADOPTED:UPDATE: It’s been a few weeks with this sweetheart and he’s up to 17 lbs. Although not skeletal anymore, he’s still very slender which is normal for his breed. He’s gotten over a bout with tapeworm that may have been one of the reasons for him being so thin, but I’m sure it wasn’t the only reason. He gets along wonderfully with his two canine foster brothers. They play nonstop. He races through the backyard looking exactly like a fawn bouncing around. You can tell his greyhound heritage from the way he cuts corners and races in circles around one of his foster brothers. There is no better cuddle bug next to you on the couch, or with you in bed than this gentle little boy. He is also the best when it comes to being a watchdog. He will let you know when there is someone near the house. We are still having a few issues with strangers and also with potty training. The potty training is also something to do with his greyhound background. They are very stubborn dogs. So, with both the stranger and potty training issues, he will need a patient loving family. He has not been around cats, but I’m sure he will do wonderful with the proper introduction. We would be glad to bring him for a visit with a family with children over seven or eight years old or with cats or dogs, his energy is as boundless as his love. He will make someone a wonderful dog if you give him the time and commitment that is needed.
Meet Guinness, a 14 mo old, 14 lb Italian Greyhound mix. He came from Ohio and had a very difficult start in life. He gets frightened easily by loud noises, barking dogs, and such. His foster mom says, "he is scared of his own shadow." He is shy when you first meet him; he also needs to put on a few pounds with extra feedings, which he is more than happy to accomplish with the help of his foster mom. He is learning to play with his canine foster brothers, is neutered and is doing very well on becoming housebroken. Also is up to date on his vaccines. Guinness will need a very patient family to help him overcome his fears from previous experiences. In the right home, he will blossom; he just needs time to learn to be a pup again.
Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information. Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
